To celebrate the new year of 2021, Dell has unveiled the world's first 5K2K, 40-inch ultra-wide curved display.

As you can see from the specifications, it's a display that looks like it was created for working from home (please ask the company to buy it at your expense!).

The new Dell UltraSharp U4021QW, which has a list price of $ 2,100, isn't cheap to compliment. However, compared to the $ 5,000 (domestic price of 582,780 yen, tax included) Apple Pro Display XDR, Dell's 40-inch curved display is positioned between the cheapest products in terms of size, resolution, and features. Since the resolution is 5,120 x 2,160, the aspect ratio of the "5K2K" U4021QW is 21: 9. A horizontally long screen that is perfect for multitasking. The curvature is 2500R (3800R for U4919DW), and everything projected on the screen is in sight, but the design is not distorted. DCI-P3, which covers 100% of the color gamut that can be displayed on an sRGB display and is used for projecting digital movies, can cover 98%, so it is full-scale. The displayable color gamut is a bit inferior to the Apple Pro Display XDR, but not inferior at all.

The standard brightness of only 300 nits is ok. Unless you're a creative artist such as a digital artist, or a job dealing with HDR (High Dynamic Range) images, it doesn't matter if you don't have more brightness than this in normal computer work.

Equipped with plenty of ports

On the other hand, the U4021QW has excellent connectivity and monitor functions due to the lack of brightness. It comes with Thunderbolt 3 docking (up to 10Gbps, power 90W) and has a built-in KVM switch so you can connect to multiple PCs. A nice bonus with an Ethernet jack and dual 9 watt speakers.

To prevent your sleep patterns and circadian rhythms from being disturbed by overwork (or overplaying games), the U4021QW has a ComfortView Plus feature that reduces the amount of blue light.

U4021QW has abundant ports. DisplayPort 1.4 port, 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, USB-C port and Thunderbolt 3, USB Type-B upstream port, USB 3.2 Type-C port, USB 3.2 Type-A port that can charge 15W, another USB 3.2 Type -A port, headphone jack, RJ45 jack. Also, as expected, the height of the U4021QW can be adjusted, the screen can be tilted, and unfortunately it cannot be rotated vertically, but it can be rotated (swivel) to some extent.

New Latitude 9000 series is also available

For those who prefer a slightly more portable guy, Dell has also introduced a new model for the Latitude 9000 series laptops. A notable new feature is “SafeShutter”. This is a webcam with a shutter, which detects the use of video conference apps and automatically opens and closes the shutter.
