Huawei announced the new tablet MatePad Pro 5G at the virtual presentation from 22:00 on February 24, Japan time. It is a 5G compatible product of MatePad Pro announced in the fall of 2019. It's just called a clone, and with an optional keyboard and stylus, it looks a lot like Apple's iPad Pro (just like a clone), and if you don't know it, you might buy it by mistake. On the other hand, wireless charging is a function that iPad Pro does not have, and this new product also has parts that surpass the original, such as supporting 5G communication. When paired with an EMUI-compatible smartphone with Huawei's original UI, the screen on the smartphone side can be mirrored on the large screen of the tablet, and you can also perform tricks such as inputting to the smartphone from the keyboard of MatePad Pro 5G. The wireless charging function is bidirectional, and while charging the main unit accepts wireless charging of up to 27W, you can hem from MatePad Pro 5G to peripheral wireless charging compatible devices such as smartphones and keyboard cases with up to 7.5W.
The stylus pen can be attached to the side of the main body like the iPad Pro, and the stylus pen "M-Pen" can be charged in that state. The M-Pen can be used for 10 minutes if it is charged for 30 seconds, and for 10 hours if it is charged for 1 hour. You can charge your M-Pen while wirelessly charging other devices on the back of your MatePad Pro 5G. The display with a punchhole camera space is 10.8 inches, the resolution is 2560 x 1600, and the aspect ratio is 16:10. The processor is Kirin 990 5G. The size of the main body is 246 x 159 x 7.99mm, and the weight is about 492g. The body color is orange and forest green. The OS is equipped with Android 10.0-based EMUI 10.1. The 5G-equipped model costs 799 euros for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model and 949 euros for the 8GB RAM + 512GB storage model.
The MatePad Pro 5G will go on sale in April. The MatePad Pro announced last fall has not been released in Japan, but I would like to expect the development of a new model that is compatible with 5G, which is about to start service in Japan.
