How to prevent the iPhone camera settings from being reset every time
The iPhone camera comes in a variety of modes and settings.
There are countless things like Live Photos, slow motion video, and panoramic shots, but when you actually take a picture, you probably always use the camera with the same favorite settings.
Unfortunately, every time I restart the camera app on my iPhone, all those settings seem to be reset. Fortunately, this annoying "feature" can be fixed.
Apple hides the ability to keep camera settings in a menu called "Keep Settings". If you enable this feature, the settings you used last time will be saved and will take effect the next time you open the camera.
This allows you to leave Live Photos off, set the video mode to default, and shoot with ProRAW enabled.
You can find such settings by going to Settings> Camera> Keep Settings. Here you will see a set of options, each with a toggle.
Enable the toggle next to the option you want to remember and leave the option you want to reset every time.
However, keep in mind that this list is not the same for all iPhones.
Some iPhones have different camera features, so some devices may not show all the options.
In fact, some settings are only available on iOS 15, which is currently in beta testing. Here's the full list and its features.
You can go back and fine-tune these settings at any time you like.
If you want to make sure that you always return to photo mode when you start the camera, or if you want to return the filter to the default every time, you can change it at any time.
