Enjoy the camera and games. Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 JE actual machine review

Xiaomi, which won the world's top share of global smartphone shipments in June 2021, will introduce the Japanese market model "Redmi Note 10 JE". au and UQ mobile are scheduled to be released exclusively, and the price is reasonable at 28,765 yen for the au version, but as it claims to be JE (Japan Edition), it has features that are in high demand in Japan, such as FeliCa and waterproofing. Model.

Especially for waterproofing, the Redmi series is the first to support it. The number of compatible models is limited, including the flagship Mi series, which shows how much effort has been put into it.

Cheap but not cheap

Some of the so-called cheap terminals look cheap, but the Redmi Note 10 JE is not like that. It's not that it's luxurious, but I feel the texture is more than the price.

The display uses a 6.5-inch FHD+ (2400x1080 pixels) liquid crystal. It is a flat display that has been increasing recently.

The refresh rate corresponds to 90Hz, but it is not always 90Hz, it is 90Hz only when scrolling the screen and 60Hz when playing video. For still images, an adaptive sync variable at 50Hz is used to save power. By the way, the default setting was 60Hz.

The back is also simple, with a three-lens camera in the upper left and a Redmi logo in the lower left. The FeliCa antenna is placed on the upper right. Since the width is about 76 mm, it is a rather large terminal, so if the FeliCa antenna is on the top, you can attach a curling ring or a grip stand without hesitation. In addition, wireless charging is not supported.

The fingerprint sensor is on the right side and doubles as the power button. It's hard to unlock when it's on a desk, but when you hold it in your hand, you can unlock it at the same time as turning the power on, so it's convenient. However, it may take some getting used to, especially when holding it in your left hand.

The SIM slot is on the upper left side. As a carrier model, the SIM is a single specification. The SIM tray also supports microSDXC (up to 1TB).

The 3.5mm jack is located at the top of the main unit. It also has an infrared port that you often see on Xiaomi's terminals (or rather, Chinese manufacturers' terminals). It can be used as an infrared remote control that can operate home appliances.

The rear camera is 48 million pixels

The rear camera consists of a 48 million pixel main camera, a 2 million pixel macro camera, and a 2 million pixel seismic intensity sensor. However, only one main camera is actually used on a regular basis.

The base Redmi Note 10 also has an ultra-wide-angle camera, but we decided that the ultra-wide-angle camera that can be used in low-priced models is not satisfactory in terms of quality, so Redmi Note It seems that it was removed in 10 JE. If so, I wonder why the camera is equipped with such a low-quality ultra-wide-angle camera for overseas markets.

Since there is no super wide angle or telephoto, basic shooting is simply 1x. However, you can magnify up to 8x with the digital zoom. You can also shoot in 48MP mode that makes full use of the 48-megapixel sensor.

The image itself is neither good nor bad. There is nothing that stands out in particular, but I also don't see anything that says it's not good at all. The contrast is a little strong, but considering the 20,000 yen range, it seems to be said that the performance is sufficient.

You can enjoy games as it is

The SoC is equipped with Snapdragon 480 5G. While 6GB of RAM is becoming commonplace in the middle class, 4GB is a little small, but I didn't feel any shortage in the range I tried. Of course, it's not as crisp and snappy as the high-end, but you won't have any problems with SNS, browsers, photography, etc.

I also played Genshin Impact, which is heavy for a smartphone game, and it was playable enough, if not very comfortable. If you are a core gamer, you may have problems such as not being able to follow the controls and combos, but as long as you play lightly, there will be no problems.

I also took a benchmark, but I was able to install 3DMark with AnTuTu, but I couldn't run it. GeekBench 5 scored 511 singles and 1667 multis. Since it is an evaluation machine, some restrictions may have been applied.

Personally, I feel that Xiaomi's own MIUI is a little difficult to get into, but it is a light layer that is going to buy a 5G terminal from now on, such as being waterproof and dustproof for 5G and being able to use Osaifu-Keitai. It is a terminal that can be recommended for those who are looking for an affordable second terminal.
