Continue to use Google services "for free": 3 steps to stay within the "15GB limit"

When you create a new "Google Account", you get 15GB of cloud storage for free. This capacity will be shared by the three main services of "Gmail", "Google Drive" and "Google Photos", and if the 15GB limit is exceeded, it will be necessary to register for a paid plan of "Google One". The monthly fee is $ 1.99 (250 yen in Japan), and it is available from a plan with a storage capacity of 100 GB.

But if you use this free storage wisely, or if you don't have a lot of files to keep in the cloud, you can fit within the free 15GB quota. The steps and tips for doing this are slightly different for Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos, so I'll briefly explain them below.

If you want to know the amount of space used by Google Services, please visit this page and log in to your Google account.

By the way, even if the limit of 15GB is exceeded, the file does not disappear suddenly. You just won't be able to add new files (Gmail may not be able to receive emails, according to Google). To add files from there, you need to free up space or use a paid plan from Google One.

1: Efficiently delete unnecessary emails with Gmail

Each email isn't big, but if you have a Gmail account that you've been using for years, it may be a lot. One way to get rid of this is to find and delete old emails.

You can find messages that are over a year old by typing "older_than: 1y" in the search box at the top of Gmail. In addition to changing the number of "1y" (1 year), you can also specify m (month) such as "older_than: 3m" (more than 3 months ago) and "older_than: 6m".

After narrowing down the old emails with this "older_than", click the box on the left side of the email list to select all, and then click "Select all threads that match this search criteria" (fewer search results). And the latter may not be displayed). Click the "Delete" button (trash can icon) to delete the selected email. Alternatively, it will be moved to the "Trash" folder and deleted after 30 days.

Emails with large attachments can take up a lot of space in your Gmail inbox. You can find emails with attachments larger than 10MB by typing, for example, "has: attachment larger: 10m" in the search box. As before, click the selection box on the left side of the list to select all, then click Delete to delete.
