Can the "Find My iPhone" function be used on Android smartphones? | @DIME At Dime
If your friends and family lose your iPhone, you may be able to find it using iCloud's Find My iPhone feature.
But if I'm using an Android smartphone, can iCloud Find My iPhone work? So, this time, I will actually try whether "Find My iPhone" can be used using an Android smartphone.
How to use Find My iPhone on devices other than Apple products
Find My iPhone is one of the services on iCloud, so you might think that it can only be used with Apple products.
I will try to use "Find My iPhone" by actually using an Android smartphone and a Windows PC.
In conclusion, "Find My iPhone" can be used on Android smartphones. It's a good idea to have your family and friends who lost your iPhone operate it.

First, go to Find My iPhone. Then enter the Apple ID and password you used on your lost iPhone to sign in to iCloud.
If you can successfully sign in to iCloud, the map will be displayed as shown in the picture below, and the location of the lost iPhone should be detected there.
Next, try using the "Find My iPhone" function using a Windows PC.
First open your browser to access iCloud. Then enter the Apple ID and login password of the person who lost the iPhone to sign in.
If your iPhone is turned on and location services are enabled, you should see a green circle on the map as shown in the picture below.
Basic usage of "Find My iPhone"
I found that "Find My iPhone" can be used without problems on both Android smartphones and Windows PCs. Next, I will introduce the basic usage of the "Find My iPhone" function.
This time, I will introduce it using a PC, but since it can be used with almost the same operation on a smartphone, please refer to it.
First, go to Find My iPhone. "All devices" or "iPhone of ◯◯◯" is displayed at the top of the screen.
If you lose another Apple product, such as your Mac or Apple Watch, click "All Devices" and try choosing a different device. If it's turned on and location services are enabled, you should see it on the map.
In "iPhone of ◯◯◯" displayed on the upper left of the screen, you can check the battery level and current status (whether the power is on) of the lost iPhone.
Also, if you select "Sound Playback", a loud sound will be played from the iPhone. Check the location of your iPhone on the map, and if you find that it's near you, do a "sound play" to make it easier to find. "Sound playback" can be used even if the silent mode of iPhone is enabled.
If you find that your lost iPhone is far away, use "Lost Mode" to limit its use. If you select "Lost Mode", the passcode entry screen will be displayed as shown in the photo below. In addition, this screen will not be displayed if the passcode has already been set on the iPhone.
Enter your 6-digit passcode and then type in the same passcode again to lock the lost iPhone screen. By the way, don't forget this passcode as it will be used to find and unlock your iPhone.
Then enter your phone number. For the phone number you enter here, enter the phone number of the family and friends of the person who lost the iPhone, not the phone number of the lost iPhone.
The phone number you entered will be displayed on the screen of the lost iPhone as shown in the picture below.
Select Next when you are finished.
Finally, enter your message. If you don't need to change anything, keep the default "This iPhone was lost by the owner. If you find it, please contact us." And select "Finish".
The lost mode is now enabled. When Lost Mode is enabled, the lost iPhone screen will be locked and only the phone number and message you entered will be displayed on the screen.
If you find an iPhone in lost mode, press the home button and enter the 6-digit passcode to cancel the lost mode.
In the unlikely event that you cannot find the lost iPhone, you can unavoidably delete all the data on your iPhone to prevent information leakage. If you select "Erase iPhone", you will see a message like the one in the picture below.
Select Erase to delete all lost iPhone content and settings. Please note that deleted iPhones will no longer be able to detect and track their location.
If Find My iPhone doesn't track your iPhone, it's possible that your lost iPhone isn't turned on or your location services are disabled. In this case, finding the lost iPhone with Find My iPhone can be quite difficult.
Also, when you access Find My iPhone on another device such as Android or Windows PC, you may be asked for "two-factor authentication" and you may not be able to sign in.
In that case, select "or access immediately". Although the use of other iCloud services is restricted, you may only be able to use Find My iPhone.
