Apple ID Security Setting -I can't hear it now!How to use "Apple ID" correctly
What is security settings for using Apple ID?
The Apple ID linked to personal information and various services is very dangerous if passwords are leaked.Although it is such an Apple ID, it also provides functions to enhance safety.Use these functions to operate safely.
How much is the password strength required?
The password on the Internet has an important or more important meaning as your home key. Here, the number of character types used for the password and the length of the password are directly linked to the password strength (difficult to break). For example, as in the bank's ATM, only the four -character numbers alone have only 10,000 squads, so if you try it three times, you can release it in 1/13,333.If the alphabet (with a distinction between uppercase lowercase letters) is mixed here, it will increase to 6.76 million in X26 x26.
In the Apple ID, when creating a password, there is a rule that "alphanumeric characters are mixed, alphabet is a minimum of eight characters in uppercase and lowercase letters."Actually, some symbols can be used, but in accordance with the basic rules, even the password of 8 characters is "26 characters (alphabet lowercase) x26 characters (alphabet capital letters) x10 characters (numbers) 8 square(67.6 billion) Street, so it doesn't seem to be easily broken. In fact, this is not a problem in practical use, but those who are worried can extend it to about 12 to 16 characters.
However, long passwords are more difficult to remember. Therefore, if you use an easy -to -understand word, date, and frequently used columns (pi, etc.), which emphasize ease of remembering, it will fall easily due to a mechanical attack using a dictionary, so there is nothing else as possible. It's meaningful, but it's a good idea to think about a combination of character strings that are easy to remember.
Make your password more secure with "2 factor authentication"
The rule of password used in the Internet service is that "the same password is not used for various services".If you use a password, if one service is invaded and passwords are leaked, other services will test the password.Especially recently, various services are collaborating with each other, so you will be tested for a variety of services with potatoes, and if you notice, you will be taken over your SNS account. It is more dangerous if you register your credit card information.
However, in fact, if you change your password for each service, you will manage a large number of passwords, so in reality, no matter how much expert can explain your mouth, most of the world. It seems that one or two passwords are being used here and there (honestly, I can't say about people). Also, it is difficult to learn and input too complicated and long passwords.Although it works with Face IDs, etc., it takes some manual input every time you restart, so it is humanity that you want to make it easier to remember to some extent.
Therefore, even if the password is broken, the mechanism that can be operated safely is "2 factor authentication".
2 Factor authentication is to confirm that it is the owner of the account to enter the password using the "second element (factor)" in addition to the password. The image is that a live ticket or the like is required to be presented with an identity card for identity verification?Even if the ticket is genuine, it will not be effective unless you buy it, so that it will prevent unauthorized obtains (such as resale).
In the case of Apple ID, if you enter a password to sign in with Apple ID somewhere, you will see that you entered the password on other Mac or iPhone, so that act was your own.By approving, the password is enabled for the first time and the service can be used.If you know that you have tested your password input, you can take measures such as changing your password.
Of course, even though you don't remember using it, you should note that two factor authentication is useless to press "approval" without reading the dialog properly.
2 Set the factor authentication
In fact, when creating a new Apple ID, 2 factor authentication is incorporated as an essential item.At the time of creation, you should be asked for a phone number and enter the code sent by SNS or automatic audio, but at that time the device entered the code will be registered as a reliable device. Therefore, we will explain the setting when the existing Apple ID is not turned on, but the 2 -factor authentication is not turned on.Basically, both Mac and iPhone are set from "Apple ID" in system environment settings. Then you can set according to the instructions on the screen.
As mentioned above, the telephone number entered here is set as a "reliable phone number" and is used for identity verification and account recovery, so be sure to register the latest phone number that you manage yourself.Let's go.In addition, since you can register more than one phone number, it is convenient to register a landline in addition to your mobile phone.
2 Try using factor authentication
Then, let's access with 2 factor authentication immediately.Access a service that signs in using the Apple ID, such as iCloud or Apple Music, from a computer or smartphone that is not used for authentication of the Apple ID, and enter an ID and password, the following screen will be displayed.
At the same time, the dialog is displayed on the device set as "reliable device" in the Apple ID.
If you tap "Authorate" here, the six -digit passcode will be sent to a reliable device. You can enter this passcode on the input screen displayed earlier with the new service you want to use.
After the approval, if you set the browser to trust, you will not need to enter the passcode from the next time. However, if you do this with a browser here and there, there will be no meaning of two factor authentication.I strongly recommend that you minimize the "trust" browser, such as using only one or two devices that you usually use most.
Get the confirmation code
If you tap "Obtain Confirm code" on the setting screen of the Apple ID, a 6 -digit confirmation code will be displayed at any time.If you have forgotten the confirmation code, you can use it again.
Create a recovery key
The "Recovery key" at the bottom of the "Password and Security" setting screen is literally a passcode used to restore Apple ID.If you set the recovery key, the Apple ID password will not be changed without a sign -in, reliable hardware or recovery key.If the password is leaked, the password will be changed from the Apple ID website without permission and the account will not be hijacked.
Also, if the Apple ID is locked by any means, the recovery key can be used.If you have a recovery key, a reliable device, and a reliable phone number, Apple support will unlock Apple ID.As a result, a malicious intruder who spoofs users locks the Apple ID (such as making a mistake in the password on purpose) → Changing and obtaining the password in contact with the support. It can be prevented.
It is a recovery key that enhances the safety of the account, but once you make a recovery key, Apple itself will not be able to unlock the account in other ways.If you lose all recovery keys and reliable hardware in a disaster, etc., you will not be able to do anything.Because it is such a powerful thing, it is necessary to keep it in a safe place when it is created, and manage it strictly so that it does not lose or leak it.To be honest, it can be a double -edged blade, so I can't recommend it (especially if the number of devices is small).
When a recovery key can be created, a new item is added to the "Recovery key" setting screen. If you want to change to another key, such as lost the recovery key or leaked to someone, tap "Create a new recovery key".
If you want to stop using the recovery key, the recovery key can be disabled by turning off the setting switch.
The Apple ID has multiple functions to enhance security, and if you use everything correctly, it can be operated safely.Set up to at least two factor authentication and prepare for it.
Next time, I will introduce the sign -in to external services using Apple ID.
